Gunpla Reviews – Real Grade 00 Qan[T]

My review of the Real Grade 00 Qan[T] or Quanta for simplicity. RG-26

The last of the trio of RG 00 Gundam kits. How does it hold up?

Detail – (10/10) This is a near perfect looking kit out of the box. Everything is molded in color, no additional painting needed anywhere. The level of detail is balanced, but color tone separation isn’t that interesting.

Articulation – (8/10) Overall articulation is the expected norm for a RG kit. Of note is the sparse waist armor which allows for the greatest range of hip movement of any RG 00 Gundam kit. The inner frame of the arms is entirely new and features a plastic on plastic joint for the hands which is stiffer but more prone to wear. The head has a loose connection to the neck and is prone to falling off easily. Cockpit hatch is quite difficult to open. The shield binder has decent articulation but the connection to the support arm is insufficient to keep it on through multiple poses. An action base is a must to get the most out of this kit’s poses.

Extras – (9/10) The GN Sword V and all the GN Blade bits looks great with all their clear green parts. The weapons can be easily held and supported by the provided sets of hands with an open left hand for emotive poses. The combined form of the weapons however is a bit too much for the kit’s wrists to handle so a provided helper stand is included to help with this. Kit also comes with special hand plug adapters for the RG hands, but these are pointless since the provided fixed holding hands are superior. An adapter plug is also provided for storing the GN Sword V on the hip armor. A Setsuna figure is included. Provided markings are the sticker type and they seem balanced in overall placement.

Value – (10/10) This kit came out in May of 2016 for 2500 yen (~$21). Comparable kits of the 00 Quanta are the MG from 2010 for 4500 yen and the HG00 for 1600 yen. Considering the quality of this kit and it being the best version in 1/144, this is a great deal for a stellar gunpla kit.

Total – (37/40) This is a great kit overall. While I personally believe the Exia and the 00 Raiser are the better RG kits, this is very close to them in terms of quality and expectations. If you’re a fan, get it.
